Student Success Story: Veronica Palmer

From Local Roots to National Champion

Veronica Palmer, a Grade 9 student at Four Winds Public School, is a shining example of what hard work and community support can achieve. A student of Sturgeon Public Schools since Kindergarten, Veronica has been deeply involved in school life—participating in STEAM, the INSPIRE program, school sports, and consistently earning a spot on the honor roll since Grade 4, including the Principal’s List last year.

Outside the classroom, Veronica has pursued karate since the age of four at Rooke School of Karate in Morinville. This year, her dedication culminated in an incredible achievement: winning Gold at the Canadian National Karate Championships in the Female Cadet Kumite +61 KG category, earning her the title of national champion.

Thanks to her success, Veronica has been selected to represent Canada at the Pan American Karate Championships this August in Paraguay, where she will compete against top athletes from across the Americas. Her journey now spans provincial, national, and continental levels—with her sights set on the World Championships in 2026.

Veronica’s story is a powerful reminder of the talent and determination within our schools. We’re incredibly proud of her and can’t wait to see what she accomplishes next!
